So my little jaunt on the dreadmill was a stupid thing to do. Didn’t I just say I was going to play it smart???? Well, I thought I was, but guess I wasn’t. I did the following routine yesterday morning:
- Walked .25 mile at 20 minute pace
- Jogged .75 mile at 15 minute pace
- Walked .25 mile at 20 minute pace
Honestly, it felt pretty good, but later in the day I had that annoying nagging tight tug bruised feeling. I think have a pretty high tolerance for pain to begin with which doesn’t help, so I just keep pushing. Well, my calf feels like it did on Monday…damn….one step forward, two steps back.
So, I’m out for Week 9. No long run <sniff>, no recovery run <sob>, no track <sniff, sniff>, No tempo run <sigh>. Instead, I’ll hit the weights (upper body/core only) and the recumbent bike, and hopefully squeeze in yoga classes if I can find some that fit my schedule.
For week 9, I will sit on the bleachers and watch my fellow runners train. This week, I will rest.
