OMG! I’ve been away for so long that it took me a full 10 minutes to figure out how to post a blog. Good lord! Yes, it’s been over a week and my trip to MN threw my blogging by the wayside. So, we’ve gotta play catch-up! I left off with Week 5’s Track Workout, so this is going to be quick and dirty…
Week 5 – Tempo Run in Minnesota
Distance:
- 4 miles, but was supposed to be 5.
- The hotel’s route sheet sent me to a wildlife reserve where the path was overgrown.
Running conditions:
- Weather…very warm, but not too humid.
- Bug, bugs, and more bugs, plus it must be dragonfly mating season. I was swatting, swinging my arms, side-stepping, hopping, and everything you can imagine…think running ninja on crack.
Physical/Mental state of mind:
- Excellent, because, hell…I RAN!
Week 6 – Long Run in Baltimore, Loch Raven Reservoir
Distance:
- 13.5 miles, but was supposed to be 14.
- The gate prevented us to go forward…ummm…yeah…I’m sticking to that story.
Running conditions:
- Weather…beautiful!
- Higher than normal car traffic in the areas that weren’t closed off.
Physical/Mental state of mind:
- Excellent, because, hell…I RAN! Not only that…I ran with my girls!
- Actually, physically, I was gassed. Couldn’t take a step by 13.5 miles. My mental monster kicked in and I let it win. <sigh>
Week 6 – Track Workout, Baltimore, Goucher College
Distance:
- About 4-5 miles.
- I really need to remember to turn on my Garmin when I run. It’s as if I’m trying to make a fashion statement with the ginormous watch instead of using it for what it’s for.
Workout:
- Warm-up jog
- Mile on the track
- Mile on the road
- Mile on the track
- Cool down jog
Physical/Mental state of mind:
- Excellent, because, hell…I RAN! Not only that…I ran with my girls! (yes, I copied and pasted cause that’s how I felt) Oh! Love the shot of our shadows!
- Hungry…did not eat enough throughout the day.
Okay! There you have it! Sorry I don’t have time to proofread, etc. Need to prep for my Week 6 15-mile long run tomorrow and the tube in my hydration backpack has funk in it from last year. I’m sure it’ll take a while to scrub it out.
Good night and happy running!
