MCM Training – Week 10 Long Run, Part 1 (6 miles – hear me roar!)

See this face? This is a face of a very happy runner!

Okay, I hope I’m not premature in doing this, but today’s run deserves a theme song! SIX FANTABULOUS MILES!!!!

You held me down, but I got up
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, your hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake your ground
You held me down, but I got up
Get ready cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

I got the eye of the tiger, the fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR
Louder, louder than a lion
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me ROAR
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar

Today was beautiful in every way possible. The weather…perfect. My calf…totally behaved. I felt strong and I wanted to keep going. I’m playing it smart and splitting up my long run between today and tomorrow. So, 6 today and 10-11 tomorrow.

Here’s the breakdown for today. You can see that I was very excited in the beginning and went out faster than I should. I continued to slow down throughout the run, but today that was fine. I nailed the hills and didn’t feel the need to stop other than the two scheduled water stops.

Mile 1 – 10:01
Mile 2 – 10:05
Mile 3 – 10:32 (Caffeinated GU)
Mile 4 – 10:45
Mile 5 – 11:09
Mile 6 – 11:04

6Miles8-24

Next run – Tomorrow, long run part 2 – 10-11 miles 🙂
