Baltimore Marathon 2014 – Race Recap – Be Brave

Seriously. How do I get so lucky with some of these running conditions? The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was mid-50’s at the start time and upper 60’s by the time I finished. There was no rain and a perfect amount of breeze to keep us cool when the sun came out. This was my 5th marathon. And while it’s supposed to be a regular ol’ training run for my 50-miler, deep down, I wanted a PR. I wanted 4:30. Even more, I wanted 4:30 for my friend Megs who had been busting butt all summer long in training.

We met with our Charm City Run training group at Pickles Pub just after 6 a.m. I was able to catch up with Joanna from Races for Awareness before the race. I was so excited to meet her. She’s helping me with organizing a virtual race to raise money fro the Dup15q Alliance which helps families with Dup15q kids, like my nephew. Yes, this is a little bit of a shamless plug. I hope you will join me in this race 🙂 Continue reading

Baltimore Running Festival Race Recap

Coach Marie told us to take it easy as we are in taper mode and to try and not get caught up in the race. It was hard, but we managed. Continue reading

Duct Tape and Other Tips for Running in the Rain

Looks like we might have some wet weather for tomorrow’s Baltimore Running Festival. The Baltimore Marathon was my first marathon and I was fortunate enough to have perfect running conditions. Tomorrow, however, there’s a good chance of rain. As I prepare for the half marathon tomorrow, I’ve decided to share some tips I’ve learned along the way.

My favorite – DUCT TAPE! Continue reading

MCM Training – Week 14 Long Run (18 Miles with Bad Manners)

Well, there goes another 18 miles for the books. Today’s run was a practice run on the Baltimore Marathon course. Those doing the Baltimore full had to run 20 miles, while the halfies did 10-12. Since MCM is a little later, our mileage was 18. We decided that we would cut the 20 mile course short and in doing so, we got a little lost and ended up a mile short at the end. No worries…we found the 18th mile. Continue reading
