Catching Up – 2/8/16

It’s tough betting back into the swing of things after the holidays. I officially started training in December and really haven’t had many issues. The goal for this season is to get faster, and for the most part, I see progress. With the exception for the week of January 16th when I ran PHUNT 50k, my weekly mileage has been in the 30’s. The 50k tipped me over into a 40-mile week. Continue reading

Hallucination 100 – To Hell And Back

WARNING: Some of the content in this post may be a little graphic for sensitive readers. Shit happens. Deal with it. 🙂

I admit. Writing the details of my entire experience has been tough. You guys wanted the details and I plan on giving them to you along with answering the questions that you posted, but it’s taking me way longer than I expected. So, with that said, this isn’t going to be your traditional race report where I tell you mile for mile from beginning to end what happened, what I ate, and what the course was like. Instead, I’ll tell you about the moments that stood out to me the most and answer your questions in detail in my next post. Continue reading

Hallucination 100 Training – Nobody Trips Over Mountains

“Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain.” -Unk”

Right before I ran my longest run to date, a 54-mile training run, someone told me this quote. It’s funny how one little quote puts things in perspective. Over the past few months, I have tripped over quite a few small pebbles, but it’s what’s going to get me across this mountain that is my 100-miler. It’s also hard to believe that my 100-miler is less than a month away. ACK! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? Continue reading

Here We Go Again – HAT Run 50K 2015 Race Day Eve

It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was prepping for my very first ultramarthon. I had no idea that a year later that the same race will turn into just a little ol’ training run to prepare for longer distances ahead. So much can happen during the course of a year…SO MUCH! Continue reading

Back to Training – And it Feels Oh So Good!

It’s been exactly two weeks since I completed the JFK50 miler. Going into the race, I swore that I would take off of running and start back again in January. I was burnt out physically and mentally of non-stop training over the past…well geez…I guess it’s three years now. I was content with giving it a break and was looking forward to it. Seriously, Universe? Can I get a break?

So. I think the universe is out to get me or something. With the recent illnesses and mishaps, I’m beginning to wonder if there’s a conspiracy against me. Why universe? WHY??? So today was the day that I was going to get back in the game. The plan was to get some hot yoga in in the morning, then head on over to Oregon Ridge for some hill training with the group. Well, yoga went well. The rest went to shit. Continue reading
